Paul Ostrow – a candidate for Hennepin County Attorney – released the following expanded statement regarding the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade:
“In the wake of today’s Supreme Court decision I want to re-affirm my commitment that I will not prosecute anyone for exercising their right to choose.
Today’s ruling is a big step backwards for our country and for human rights.
In 240 years American democracy has expanded civil rights originally reserved to white male property owners.
The idea embraced by the Court that the rights of citizens are limited only to those rights expressly granted in the Constitution shows contempt for those who have worked tirelessly to form a more perfect union.
The roles of government and its people have been flipped upside down. It is not the government’s role to decide which of our rights are inalienable.“
Paul Ostrow is currently seeking the office of Hennepin County Attorney in the non-partisan countywide elections scheduled for August 9th 2022.
